Industry Insider: Alex Canas of Le Parc Suites Hotel

Los Angeles native Alex Canas has worked at some of L.A.'s hottest hotels before becoming Sales Manager at Le Parc Suites in West Hollywood. Read on for her top picks and see what this industry insider has to say about the City of Angels...

Must pack item for a trip to Los Angeles?

Sunglasses and a camera! There are so many cool photo opportunities to take advantage of from unique architecture to art galleries and of course, the Southern California sunsets.

What’s your favorite restaurant in L.A. and what’s your go-to order?

My go-to spot is Maia, a trendy fusion sushi bar in West Hollywood. The ambiance is gorgeous and it’s great for large parties. Their tempura rock shrimp accented with Fuji apple slaw with citrus truffle aioli is out of this world. Definitely a must taste when in L.A.!

As a Los Angeles insider, what activity would you recommend to visitors?

If you get a chance to enjoy a show at the Hollywood Bowl, it’s always a night to remember! Some of music’s greatest performers have graced the stage and nothing beats picnicking before the show.

What’s been your favorite event you’ve helped with at Le Parc Suites?

Last year we hosted a post-Emmys party that was a huge success. It was a classy evening affair held on our pool deck. The gorgeous L.A. summer lasted until fall last year so the weather was fabulous for September and everyone had a great time.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Being able to work to work in one of L.A.’s most exciting neighborhoods never leads to a boring day. I get to meet people from all over the world and show them what the City of Angels is all about!

Favorite hidden gem in L.A.?

If you want to get a great view of the Hollywood Sign, visit Sunset Ranch Hollywood and enjoy one of their horseback ride tours. It’s good for solo riders and groups. Riders can enjoy 360º views of not just the Hollywood Sign but also Downtown L.A., the Valley, the Pacific Ocean, and Rancho Palos Verdes.

Favorite neighborhood to explore?

Definitely West Hollywood. It may be a small neighborhood in the grand scheme of L.A. but there’s always new restaurants, night life, art and shopping to check out- I love it!

What makes L.A. an ideal destination for meetings and events?

Meetings in L.A. don’t have to be restricted to a boardroom. There are so many unique venues throughout town and always something to do! Attendees are able to experience the city beyond the 9-5 work day and see what makes L.A. such a special place.
