The acclaimed wine bar from Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne, a.o.c. is serving a four-course prix fixe menu on Valentine’s Day. Starters include scallop crudo, smoked whitefish, or poached lobster ($18 supplement). Second courses include grilled asparagus, oven-roasted Manila clams, the famed Spanish fried chicken, potato gnocchi. "More Good Stuff" entrees feature wood-roasted prawns, grilled hanger steak, "Ode to Zuni" half-chicken for two, and pork tenderloin Wellington for two ($20 supplement). Finish with pear chocolate crunch, butterscotch pot de creme, or cheese plate. Pricing is $115 per person with $40 per person supplemental wine pairing by Caroline Styne.

On Valentine's Day, Chef Zach Pollack's Alimento will be serving its usual menu along with a few special twists - truffles, anyone? In addition, Alimento will be offering a couples' wine flight with six different glasses, each accompanied by a brief note for conversation and taste-sharing.

Start with cheddar beer soup or marinated beet salad, then choose from herb roasted salmon or grilled hanger steak. The lively urban cantina from Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, Border Grill in Downtown LA is offering a four-course Valentine's Day menu and a la carte specials. Whet your appetite with the cocktail special, the classic Hanky Panky made with gin, sweet vermouth and Fernet-Branca. After an amuse of seafood campechana, start with baby chicory, fennel & blood orange salad; grilled quail, or chipotle glazed hamachi collar. Served from 5-8:30 pm, the Valentine's Day menu is offered as a three-course ($70) or four-course ($85) prix fixe menu. Highlights include marinated bay scallops, squid ink chitarra with uni & lobster, John Dory, beef tenderloin, whole roasted mushroom with quinoa risotto, and chocolate brioche pudding.
Cal Mare
Located on the ground floor of the newly renovated Beverly Center, Cal Mare celebrates the best of coastal Italian cuisine and Southern California's bountiful ingredients. On Valentine's Day, Cal Mare is serving a prix fixe menu that starts with a choice of crudo and antipasti such as spicy chickpea farinata, Pacific oysters, and Spanish bluefin tuna crudo ($8 supplement). Pasta course selections include ricotta lasagna, rigatoni carbonara, Spaghetti al Barolo, saffron risotto, or potato gnocchi with Main lobster ($12 supplement). Main courses feature wagyu filet, diver scallops, suckling pig porchetta, dry-aged duck breast for two, and "pasta-baked" branzino for two. At Celestino Ristorante in Pasadena, Owner / Executive Chef Calogero Drago will transport lovers to Southern Italy with his four-course Valentine’s Day menu. Your Italian culinary adventure starts with a lentil and kale soup, fried calamari with pink tomato sauce, or steamed lobster over sweet pea purée and melon. Available on Valentine’s Day through February 16, the specials include the Shot of Aphrodite with chilled watermelon consume; Chilled Oysters, Warm Alaskan King Crab Leg, Love Notes with sweet corn, English peas, saffron, snow peas and potatoes; Eros Salad, and Surf N’ Turf featuring A5 wagyu and Maine lobster. Located in the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, Culina is renowned for its seasonal, classic Italian cuisine with exceptional ingredients. Chef de Cuisine Luca Moriconi is serving a five-course prix fixe menu priced at $125 per person. Start with a special Sangria Cocktail for Two made with red wine, Asian pear, strawberry, orange and honey, garnished with fresh fruit.
The dinner begins with an Oyster Cupid Amuse-Bouche with freshly shucked oysters and aphrodisiac condiments, followed by the Antipasto - a choice of Cappuccino di Pomodoro (tomato soup), Mozzarella E Fragole, or Carpaccio di Gamberi (Carabineros prawn crudo). For the Primo course, choose between the Lasagnetta (black mussels and artichoke lasagna) or the Asparagus Risotto. Secondi options include Sogliola E Zucchini, baked Dover sole filets, and Gallina al Tartufo (roasted Cornish hen). The dessert for two is Duo Della Passione - passion fruit semifreddo served with chocolate tortino and candied rose.
