For Back to the Future fans, the future has finally arrived. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, is the day that Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) time travels to the future in Back to the Future Part II, directed by Robert Zemeckis and released by Universal Pictures in November 1989. To celebrate Back to the Future Day, theaters across the country are showing the entire movie trilogy. Many of the screenings will start at 4:29 p.m., which every BTTF fan knows is the exact time that Marty arrives in the future on Oct. 21, 2015.
Besides the screenings, other tributes include a Universal trailer for Jaws 19 (seen on a movie theater marquee in the future), a Hoverboard commercial and Pepsi Perfect, which Marty orders at an 80s-themed diner in the future and is being sold online in limited quantities starting Oct. 21.

Now in its fourth year, Grand Avenue Arts: All Access returns on Saturday, Nov. 3 to showcase the world-class arts and cultural organizations located on Grand Avenue between Temple and 6th Streets in Downtown L.A. Taking place from 11am to 4pm, the one-day, free community event will feature live music performances, docent-led architectural tours, family-friendly readings and films, educational opportunities, scavenger hunts, exhibition tours, craft-making activities and free open-house access. One of the best aspects of living in Los Angeles is its proximity to the great outdoors. The beach, mountains and desert are all within striking distance. Hiking is always an option, whether it’s the Santa Monica Mountains, Hollywood Hills or the mighty San Gabriel Mountains. Now that you’ve conquered easy hikes and stepped up to intermediate hikes, you’re ready to learn about nine of the best difficult hikes in L.A. County, which either span more than six miles or climb more than 1,000 feet of altitude. These hikes are sure to get your heart racing and may even require some recovery time (unless you frequent fire roads).
A few quick reminders:
1. Carry your cell phone with you in case of emergency. The signal can be limited in the mountains, but the phone is your best friend if you run into trouble.
2. Carry plenty of water because trails often offer little shade and it can get hot.
3. Wear sunscreen. Even if the sky starts overcast, sun often breaks through clouds.
4. Stay to the center of the trail to limit contact with plants like poison ivy and wildlife like rattlesnakes and tarantulas.
