The longest-running midnight movie of all time, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) stars Tim Curry as the kinky yet endearing “transsexual from Transylvania” Dr. Frank N. Furter; Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Brad and Janet; Meat Loaf as motorcycle-riding rough trade; and author Richard O’Brien as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff.

More than 40 years after its original release, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is still the best interactive movie experience for longtime fans and newbies alike. The Nuart Theatre in West L.A. is screening Rocky Horror every Saturday night in October at 11:59 p.m. plus Friday, Oct. 26 and a special Wednesday screening at 10pm on Halloween Night. One of L.A.'s most popular outdoor movie series, Street Food Cinema features a mix of films, food trucks, live music and interactive games. Throughout October, Street Food Cinema is screening seasonal favorites across the city: "It", "Beetlejuice", "Hocus Pocus", "Halloween", "Gremlins", "Shaun of the Dead", "Coco En Español", "Edward Scissorhands" (Oct. 27) and "Coco" (Oct. 27).

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Hocus Pocus at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood has it all: three witches, three kids and a talking cat! You're in for a devil of a time when three outlandishly wild witches (played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy) return from 17th-century Salem after they're accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters.

Screamfest is the largest and longest-running horror film festival in the country, taking place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres at Hollywood & Highland. Founded in 2001 by film producers Rachel Belofsky and Ross Martin, Screamfest premieres and showcases new work from American and international independent horror filmmakers. Nicknamed the “Sundance of Horror,” Screamfest gives filmmakers and writers in the horror/sci-fi genres a venue to have their work showcased to the industry.

One of L.A.'s most popular outdoor film series, Rooftop Cinema Club screens contemporary classics, cult and new releases at two venues: Downtown L.A.'s LEVEL, an urban oasis in the sky; and the 3rd floor terrace at NeueHouse Hollywood, located in the former CBS Studios. LEVEL gets into the spirit of the season with its Horror Week features: "What We Do in the Shadows" (Oct. 25), "The Silence of the Lambs" (Oct. 26), "Poltergeist" (Oct. 27), "Alien" (Oct. 30), and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (Oct. 31).

NeueHouse highlights include "Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary" (Oct. 26), "The Witches" (Oct. 26), "The Sixth Sense" (Oct. 28), "Super 8" (Oct. 29), "Evil Dead II" (Oct. 30), and "Halloween 40th Anniversary" on Halloween Night.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, "The Nightmare Before Christmas” is screening in 4D at the El Capitan Theatre from Oct. 22-31. The Nuart Theatre presents The Fog in a first-ever, full 4K digital restoration! Filmmaker John Carpenter’s first post-Halloween venture into the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired, apocalyptic vein that he would continue to mine in films like The Thing (1982) and Prince of Darkness (1987), The Fog depicts the seaside California town of Antonio Bay in the grips of an ancient curse and a creeping mist. As a strange, glowing fog rolls over the town one hundred years after a mysterious shipwreck, vengeful ghosts go on a killing spree, forcing residents to look for answers even as they try to survive. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Adrienne Barbeau (Swamp Thing), Tom Atkins (Halloween III: Season of the Witch), Hal Holbrook, John Houseman and the mother-daughter duo of Janet Leigh (Psycho) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), The Fog is the director at his ingenious, chilling best - servicing a contemporary taste for gore while simultaneously evoking the spirit of Val Lewton.

Celebrate Halloween at The Autry with "Ghost Town," the story of a modern-day sheriff who faces undead outlaws in a seemingly abandoned ghost town. Introduced by Brad Sykes, filmmaker and author of "Terror in the Desert." Included with museum admission.

It's "Horror in the Hall" with Nosferatu (1922), screening on Halloween Night at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown L.A. Organ virtuoso Clark Wilson will improvise an eerie, atmospheric soundtrack on the Hall’s magnificent pipe organ to accompany one of the most influential horror films of the silent era, directed by F. W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok.
