LAX is gearing up for a positively first-class experience for visitors with a brand new international terminal on the way, along with new air service and many new amenities throughout the entire airport. Summer 2012 marked the start of construction of curbside canopies at the Tom Bradley International Terminal, which is undergoing a $1.7 billion upgrade that will add 18 new gates as well as the Great Hall dining and shopping area by the end of 2013. Visiting foodies and shoppers can rejoice, as 60 dining and retail options are being added in 2012 to Terminals 4, 5, 7 and 8, including outlets of LA French Dip institution Cole’s, authentic Mexican eatery ¡Loteria! Grill, and Magic Johnson Sports.  LAX this summer also added free 45-minute WiFi service for those looking to check into the Internet before boarding their flights. And LAX continues to build its reputation as a true international hub with more flights to Europe and Asia than ever. Lufthansa, which offers direct daily service from LAX to Frankfurt, London, Munich and Zurich, is expanding its seasonal routes to year-round service.  China Southern debuted the new A380 on its Guangzhou to LAX route on Oct. 12.  And in early 2013, United Airlines will upgrade the aircraft for its twice-daily service to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport and its once-daily flight to Shanghai to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
