STUDENT & YOUTH TRAVEL ASSOCIATION NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY

Los Angeles is hosting the 2013 Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) Annual Conference on Aug. 23 to 27, 2013, welcoming nearly 1,000 tour professionals specializing in the student and youth travel market. The SYTA Youth Foundation is holding its annual Golf Classic on Friday, Aug. 23, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort, in the City of Industry. This premiere golf outing is for networking and building relationships with tour operators and other student travel professionals. This is the only event open to non-SYTA members and those not registered for the conference. Your $225 donation to the SYTA Youth Foundation includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, a sleeve of golf balls, breakfast, prizes, luncheon and transportation to and from the golf course from the JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS - JATA TOURISM FORUM & TRAVEL SHOWCASE

There is a great opportunity for LATCB members being offered by the LATCB/LAWA Tokyo Office. Members are invited to attend or participate in the annual Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Tourism Forum & Travel Showcase, one of the largest tourism events in Asia, taking place Sept. 12-15 in Tokyo. The Travel Showcase features two events: a marketing conference where tourism professionals will discuss a single theme in depth, and a trade fair and exhibition, with a travel trade day offering business talks and information exchange. Other days are open to the general public for promoting products and services to general consumers. The cost to participate for brochure distribution is $500, and $2,000 to share a booth. Save the date for the Travel and Tourism Marketing Association’s (TTMA) Anastasia K. Mann Annual Leadership Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. Join Master of Ceremonies Ernest Wooden, Jr., President and CEO of LATCB for this great annual tourism industry event. This year’s luncheon will recognize Anastasia K. Mann Annual Leadership Awards winner Jeff Rudolph, President and CEO of the California Science Center and the President of the California Science Center Foundation, and The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles as the recipient of the TTMA Landmark Award.  Accepting the award for the Museum will be Dr. Jane Pisano, NHM President and Director.

MEETING PROFESSIONALS INTERNATIONAL MONTHLY MEETING: LA AS A MEETINGS DESTINATION

LATCB President & CEO Ernest Wooden, Jr. will be the featured speaker at the October Monthly Meeting of the Southern California Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPISCC), discussing “LA as a Meetings Destination.” This lively and informative lunch program takes place Oct. 8, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Langham Huntington Hotel, Pasadena, located at 1401 South Oak Knoll Ave., Pasadena.
