Spring, one of travel’s peak seasons is upon us and the future has never looked brighter for tourism in Los Angeles. As the good news keeps coming about new air services to Los Angeles and record-increases in job growth for the leisure & hospitality sector, this is the perfect time to celebrate our industry.

That’s exactly what we’ll be doing during National Travel and Tourism Week (May 2-10), when the tourism community, cities and states nationwide celebrate and champion the power of the travel industry. We are excited to announce our official economic impact numbers for 2014 during National Travel and Tourism Week and I’m confident they will demonstrate the importance of our industry and its impact on the local economy.

I recently made the case for supporting tourism to a very important audience – Capitol Hill. I traveled to Washington, D.C. last month along with several industry leaders and executives for Destination Capitol Hill, the travel industry’s premier legislative fly-in. There, I was able to meet with policymakers and members of Congress to stress the importance of travel as an economic driver and learn about upcoming legislation that impacts our industry.
These are just a few of the many updates on L.A. Tourism and our industry that we’re sharing with you in this month’s newsletter.

As always, LATCB will be here, working on behalf of all of our members and partners to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.

Best wishes,

Ernest Wooden Jr.
