We would like to introduce a few new fantastic additions to our Sales team at LATCB – while both their names look similar and they each boast a wealth of experience, we wanted to make sure there wasn’t any confusion.


Lanie Dean Griffin
is LATCB’s newest Director of Convention Sales for the Western Region. Lanie has spent the majority of her 17-year career working for Starwood Hotels including their Citywide Sales office selling multiple hotels, including the St. Regis, San Francisco and W San Francisco; previous to that, she was with Ritz-Carlton hotels in Hawaii and San Francisco. Lanie will be based in the San Francisco area and serves the territory that includes Northern California and the Northwest. Contact: ldgriffin@latourism.org

Liane Haynes-Smith joins LATCB as Senior Director of Client Services. In this role, Liane leads the Client, Destination and Event Services team to deliver best-in-class service to our citywide conventions and self-contained meetings while overseeing our customer events and trade-shows. Liane brings an incredible 20 years of hospitality experience to the team and has established great relationships in L.A.'s hospitality community. E3 and The Special Olympics 2015

2015 is poised to be a busy year for events being hosted by the city. Here’s a quick look at some of the blockbuster events headed to the City of Angels in the next upcoming months:

  •  E3 EXPO - IDG World Expo (June 16 –18, 2015)

The world’s premier trade show for computer, video and mobile games, E3 returns to the Los Angeles Convention center this June. At E3, the video game industry’s top talent come together to connect with tens of thousands of the most innovative professionals in the interactive entertainment industry. Over three days, groundbreaking new technologies and never-before-seen products will be showcased as industry experts and visionaries from more than 100 countries are expected to attend.

  •  The Special Olympics International World Summer Games (July 25 – August 2, 2015)

The world’s largest sports and humanitarian event is headed to the entertainment capital of the world. Los Angeles will host the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games where 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing 177 countries compete in 25 Olympic-style sports. The Games return to the United States for the first time in 16 years and are expected to bring more than 500,000 people to the greater Los Angeles area, making it the single biggest event in L.A. since the 1984 Olympic Games. Volunteer opportunities will be available throughout as more than 30,000 volunteers are expected to participate.

Meet L.A.

LATCB is launching an exciting new campaign targeting meetings, conventions and events entitled ‘Meet L.A.’ The message speaks as an introduction to those unfamiliar with the destination while offering those who haven’t visited recently an opportunity to rediscover the city – from Hollywood, the Beach Cities and the Valley to West LA and Downtown. The campaign features unique L.A. venues and attractions while offering a fresh look and perspective to clients looking to meet in Los Angeles.
