Romantic Los Angeles Hotels for Couples
Updated on March 19, 2015
Los Angeles makes the perfect getaway for a couples’ retreat, whether you're visiting from another city or planning a romantic “staycation.” With LA's idyllic, year-round weather, acclaimed restaurants, vibrant nightlife, or just quiet time, these five hotels offer a great home base for exploring the city...or never leaving your room.
The intersection of Hollywood & Vine evokes glamorous images of the Golden Age—ideal inspiration for a romantic getaway. And the spacious, “flat”-like rooms at this boutique property feel more like a hip housing swap than a hotel. With a full kitchen and room service available from both onsite Mediterranean eatery Cleo and nearby Japanese fusion restaurant Katsuya, there’s no need to ever leave. But if the area’s sexy nightlife beckons, hop into one of the property’s BMW 7 Series house cars and hit up Sayers Club, a speakeasy-style bar also owned by SBE. The bouncers recognize the cars and have a great relationship with the concierge, so guests often get to skip the line—a true A-list Hollywood experience.
Hotel Bel-Air, Dorchester Collection
There’s sometime timeless and charming about the Hotel Bel-Air. Strolling the pathways at this luxurious, exclusive property, it’s possible to feel transported to another era, and certainly to forget that the hustle and bustle of the city is only a few miles away. The hotel staff will dote on guests every need or politely disappear into the shadows for maximum privacy. Enjoy afternoon tea, dinner at the al fresco Wolfgang Puck restaurant or simply order room service in front of the fireplace or on your own patio.

Hotel Amarano
This attractive, boutique-style hotel located on the southeastern end of Burbank is very close to Toluca Lake and all of the studios. Many of the regular guestrooms in the older wing feature kitchenettes, as do all of the one-bedroom suites in the newer one (and they have walk-in closets, too). There’s also 24-hour room service, as well as a full-service restaurant and bar onsite—atypical offerings for the Valley. The pool uses saltwater, which is said to be healthier for the skin. For guests who wish to explore nearby attractions, free transportation is provided within three miles of the hotel, including the Burbank Airport and Universal Studios.

The Langham Huntington Pasadena, Los Angeles
Situated in a historic Pasadena neighborhood, this grand hotel features 380 rooms, suites and cottages. The hotel’s pool—notable as the first Olympic-sized outdoor pool of its kind in California—has been shortened a bit, but is still inviting for a dip. And the nearby Picture Bridge is a great photo opp. But for those looking to unwind, the onsite Huntington Spa is one of the best in Los Angeles. As for food and beverage options, the Royce ranks highly among area foodies, and the Terrace is a local favorite for its jazzy Sunday breakfast buffet.

Terranea Resort
This sprawling property is located along the Rancho Palos Verdes coast, a secluded stretch of land that consists of more than 100 pristine acres. The Mediterranean-style resort’s amenities are many, including a nine-hole golf course, hiking trails, tide pools on the beach, and even a falconry program. The spa is world-class in its offerings, and includes access to its own pool; there is also an adults-only pool overlooking the beach. Dining and drinking options abound, from the casual Catalina Grill to fine dining at mar’sel. Should you and your sweetie disagree on whether sunrises or sunsets are more romantic, vantage points for both are on-property
