LA-based designer Trina Turk is as influenced by her upbringing as she is by her collector’s eye for the Golden State’s modernist artistry and craftsmanship. Her love of 60s and 70s vintage apparel, jewelry and accessories, modernist and graphic arts, and mid-century modern architecture are showcased in her ready-to-wear, accessory, and home collections. Turk has seven boutiques across the country, including Los Angeles. Turk’s numerous licenses and collaborations include the recently announced Banana Republic collaboration for Summer 2012.

Love the chic modernist interior, and the central location makes it a perfect place to meet up with friends from the Westside (I’m an Eastsider). I had one of my best star sightings ever at Ammo: Mick Jagger slinking in around 10 pm with his super tall girlfriend L’Wren Scott. Who even knew he ate?

A favorite for dinner after events at our Los Angeles boutique—it’s just three doors down. Delicious small plates and an amazing wine list. Love the cauliflower with curry and red wine vinegar, and it’s hard not to order ALL of the salads.
Lucques
The space is just so great—is it an old carriage house? And the food lives up to the space.

A sentimental favorite—it was around the corner from the loft where my company was located in the early days [and] the closest thing we had to a glamour lunch in our neighborhood. Cardboard chairs + exposed brick + tasty sushi all work for me.
Tavern
A great place to brunch. I like to take out-of-towners here since the space feels so authentic—like it’s been there forever, although it hasn’t. It’s the antithesis of what some people think LA is about, and surprises the skeptics who think we’re all flip flops and spray tans. The light in the beautiful atrium room makes everyone look great even without a spray tan.
Itacho Japanese Izakaya and Sushi
I’m half Japanese, and sometimes I just crave some great sushi and some crunchy lotus root. Also centrally located, Itacho cures the craving.
