Industry News & Notes

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials estimated a record 1.207 million travelers passed through the airport this past July 4 holiday weekend – an increase of 9.7 percent over last year’s record 1.1 million passengers. Friday was expected to be the busiest day with nearly 265,000 travelers.

AAA forecasted a record 42.9 million people were expected to travel during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, up 1.3% from the record that was previously set in 2007 and tied in 2015. The travel was fueled by lower gas prices as well as growth in consumer confidence.

Emirates launched its second daily A380 service from Dubai to LAX earlier this month. The Airbus A380 is branded with Los Angeles Dodgers, the airline’s partner.
