The complete list of participating restaurants in the dineL.A. Summer Restaurant Week, July 14-27, has been posted at www.discoverLosAngeles.com/dineLA, with more than 360 eateries to choose from. The 2014 Summer Restaurant Week promises to be the biggest ever, showcasing Los Angeles as a premier dining destination, highlighting the diversity of culinary experiences L.A. has to offer. This year, diners will have two additional weekend days to indulge in some of the best cuisine in the world at acclaimed restaurants throughout Los Angeles County. Participating restaurants specially priced prix-fixe menus at $15, $20, or $25 for lunch, and $25, $35, or $45 for dinner.

LAUNCH OF NORWEGIAN AIR’S SCANDINAVIAN AIR SERVICE TO LOS ANGELES

On June 12, LATCB in partnership with LAWA and the Scandinavian Tourism Authority co-hosted a series of events at an LATCB member hotel to celebrate Norwegian Air’s recently introduced non-stop service to Los Angeles from Oslo, Norway; Stockholm, Sweden; and Copenhagen, Denmark. Additional service from London/Gattwich Airport to L.A. starts this month. Guests included select Consuls General and Chamber of Commerce and business association leaders, who met with Norwegian’s CEO Bjørn Kjos to explore future business opportunities.

RESULTS FROM OUTFEST 2014 VIP PACKAGE PROMO

LATCB ran a promo contest in conjunction with Outfest Film Festival, the oldest film festival in Los Angeles celebrating its 32nd anniversary in 2014. Between March 16 and June 16, contestants filled out a gayLA trivia quiz for a chance to win three nights at the Hilton Checkers, two VIP Outfest passes for the opening weekend, two VIP passes for Hikes & Bikes L.A., and two 72-hour Hop-On, Hop-Off passes for Starline Tours. Passport Magazine ran the same sweeps package. The contest received hundreds of completed entries from over 25 states across the country.

LAWA ROLLS OUT TWO NEW FLYAWAY BUS LINES

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is expanding its FlyAway bus service from LAX with new stops in Santa Monica and Hollywood. The FlyAway bus takes passenger from LAX to Union Station, Westwood, the Metro Expo light rail line and Van Nuys. The new stops aim to make it easier for travelers to use public transit to get to and from the airport, and reduce traffic congestion at the LAX. Starting July 15, a FlyAway bus will run directly between LAX and the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in the heart of Santa Monica. Starting in mid-september, the Hollywood line will have stops at Hollywood and Vine and the La Brea Station on the Expo light rail line. One-way tickets will be $8. Future FlyAway expansions include stops on the Orange Line busway in the San Fernando Valley in late 2014 and in Torrance in mid-2015.

BRIDGE DEMOLITION WILL CLOSE CENTURY BLVD. FOR TWO DAYS IN JULY

Century Blvd., the main artery to LAX, will be closed at Aviation Blvd. for 57 hours July 25-28 to allow for the demolition of bridge as part of the construction of the new Metro Crenshaw light rail line. The demolition and closure of Century Blvd. will begin at 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, and end by 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 28. A detour will route traffic north of the bridge to Manchester Avenue before dropping back down to Century Blvd. on either side of Aviation Blvd. Metro, L.A. Department of Transportation and LAWA are working to ensure that local residents, travelers, LAX area employers, hotels, transportation providers, car rental companies and all others who could be impacted by the closure are aware of potential delays, and have updated information about traffic and detours so they can plan ahead. Please notify employees as well arriving international visitors about the closure, and share the information resources so they can plan ahead. LATCB RECOGNIZED WITH SMITTY AWARD FROM TRAVEL + LEISURE MAGAZINE

LATCB was recently honored with a Social Media in Travel & Tourism (SMITTY) Award in the Tourism Board/Destination Marketing Organization category by Travel + Leisure Magazine. The panel of judges included members of the media and travel professionals like Al Roker, Twitter's head of Travel Mike de Jesus and Google's Rob Torres. LATCB counts over 3 million social media fans internationally across multiple channels, including 1.6 million on Weibo in China, and presented at this year’s SXSW Conference in Austin on the evolution and use of tech in the travel and tourism industry. NEW TRAIN STATION TO PROVIDE RAIL CONNECTION TO LAX

The Metro Board on June 26 approved a new light rail station at Aviation Blvd. and 96th St. that would connect Metro’s Crenshaw Line light rail, now under construction, to LAX with a people-mover system. The proposed light-rail station would be 1 ½ miles east of LAX's central terminal area. The people-mover, an aerial, monorail-style system, would carry passengers to a consolidated car-rental facility, a planned ground transportation hub and the LAX terminal area. The station is meant to speed up airport access for travelers and should include check-in counters, flight information boards, vendors and currency exchange locations. Currently, travelers and airport employees who take the Metro Green Line to the airport have to get off at the Aviation/LAX station south of the airport and take shuttle buses to the airport. LOS ANGELES RANKED AMONG TOP 10 SEARCHED GLOBAL CITIES BY USA’S TRIPOLOGY

USA Today’s Tripology released it most recent consumer travel trends report, including the news that Los Angeles was listed as one of the 10 most-requested global cities for the first time. LOS ANGELES NAMED “AMERICA’S MOST SUCCESSFULLY RE-INVENTED METROPOLIS” BY DWELL MAGAZINE

During its 2014 Dwell on Design convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center (June 20-22), Dwell Magazine awarded Los Angeles the title of "America's Most Successfully Re-Invented Metropolis." Dwell, a major arbiter of the re-making of the nation's central cities, made the announcement at a press conference in the Met Lofts courtyard a block from the Staples Center in the heart of the civic renaissance.
