Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles
The Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles opened on Jan. 6, 2014 in the restored 1927 United Artists building, located in the burgeoning Broadway district. Named one of the world’s most anticipated hotel openings of 2014 by CNN Travel, the hotel is the second Ace property in California. The Ace Hotel includes 166 hotel rooms and 16 suites, ranging from Small Room to Terrace Suite. Interior design includes a lobby by local firm Commune Design, and a “larger-than-life” mural by the Haas Brothers that tells a visual history of Hollywood. On-site dining includes a seasonal American restaurant called LA Chapter. Amenities include a rooftop bar, pool and screening room. On Valentine’s Day, the building’s ornate 1,600-seat theatre reopened as a performance space with a sold-out concert by Spiritualized.

The Line Hotel
Located in Koreatown across from the Wilshire/Normandie stop of the Metro Purple Line, The Line soft opened on Jan. 1, 2014. The 388-room property is a collaboration between a powerhouse team that includes The Sydell Group, sustainability-focused designer Sean Knibb, nightlife impresarios Houston Hospitality, and the art and design collective Poketo. Acclaimed Kogi BBQ revolutionary chef, Roy Choi is opening two restaurants at The Line: POT, featuring Korean family-style hot pots, and the vegetarian-focused Commissary.

In July 2012, a motel located on Sunset Boulevard across from Guitar Center reemerged from a major revamp as The Moment - a 39-room, one-suite boutique hotel. Guests can enjoy the second-story, 2,000 square-foot Moment Deck & Bar and its views of the Hollywood Hills. Walls are painted a bright orange, while green and purple hues serve as accents throughout the hotel. Rooms start as low as $199 per night.
Hotel Normandie LA
Located in the bustling Koreatown-Wilshire Center District of LA, the Hotel Normandie recently completed a $5-million renovation that restores the historic property to its former glory. Designed by famed architects Walker & Eisen, the Hotel Normandie first opened in 1926. The hotel’s 94 rooms feature restored hardwood floors, Art Deco bathrooms, flat screen TVs, high speed Internet, an in-room coffee maker and distinctive art pieces.

The L.A. Grand Hotel Downtown
The L.A. Hotel in Downtown LA joined the Hyatt family as a Hyatt Regency at the completion of a $20-million facelift, which has updated the hotel with a more elegant and contemporary design throughout as well as added service upgrades to all 400 guest rooms and 69 suites. New floor plans reveal more than 20 versatile meeting rooms and two ballrooms.

The Los Angeles Athletic Club
The re-designed third floor bar at the Los Angeles Athletic Club is now called Invention, and offers athletic club members and social members a place to relax over a classic or signature cocktail. Marcos Tello and Aidan Demarest of Liquid Assets created a craft cocktail program for Invention, which is designed by Tracy Beckmann to evoke an upscale airline corporate lounge with luxurious custom furnishings and science-themed accents. Also located on the third floor, the former Grill Room is now known as Famous Players, serving breakfast and lunch to members and guests in a relaxing, upscale bistro setting. The detailed restoration includes the historic porcelain tile floor and walnut wood-paneled walls.

The Beverly Hills Hotel And Bungalows
The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel has updated its pool area, including the Cabana Café, which has a brand new show kitchen, pizza oven, bar and overhead trellis. Dinner service is now available thanks to these improvements, including redesigned lighting and heating. The private cabanas have also been refreshed and a brand new pool terrace has been added, allowing for a bi-level lounging experience for guests.

The Holiday Inn Burbank Media Center in downtown Burbank completed renovations that allow guests to enjoy improvements to the lobby, suites, cocktail lounges and ballroom with its new, contemporary look and accommodating furnishings. New designs to the Casting Call Lounge, Crystal View Lounge and People’s Choice Restaurant offer visitors many options to relax, wine and dine. Or, book an event in the new South Pacific Ballroom or the Outdoor Garden Park, complete with waterfalls, koi ponds and gazebo.
Hotel Angeleno
The independently-owned Hotel Angeleno on the Westside made some choice updates to its dining and meeting areas. Enjoy the panoramic views from the 17th-floor West Restaurant Lounge, which - along with the bar - has been completely remodeled with a modern décor. Just below on the 16th floor, the executive boardroom and two adjacent meeting rooms have also been remodeled to each accommodate a 50-person capacity. And if you feel like spending an afternoon poolside, take advantage of the new lounge furniture on the 3,000 square-foot pool deck.
