‘Tis the season, and according to the latest American Express Spending & Saving Tracker, 84 million Americans plan to travel during the holidays, up 7 percent from last year.  In addition, more Americans will:

• Fly to their destination (42%, up 6% from 2011)
• Take longer vacations (27% up 4% from 2011)
• Travel to more expensive destinations (16% up 4% from 2011)
• Spend more to enhance their trips this holiday season, with 29% dinning out more often and 20% staying in better accommodations

However, 38% (vs. 40% in 2011) of travelers still consider budget before destination when making travel plans.
