March 7: Savion Glover’s STePz - Valley Performing Arts Center
Tony Award-winning tap dancer, actor and choreographer Savion Glover brings his latest production, STePz, to the Valley Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 7. Glover and his ensemble of dancers take tap dance to new heights and levels, while fusing traditional music selections of the past with his uniquely personal tap style and energy of the future.
March 7-9: Turning the Wheel - Inner City Arts
Turning the Wheel, an intergenerational dance/theatre nonprofit organization, presents I Knew That Once from Friday to Sunday, March 7-9, at Inner City Arts in Downtown L.A. Turning the Wheel uses the power of art to foster communities, build leaders, and share the joy of self-expression with participants of all ages, economic situations, genders, ethnic backgrounds and challenges. I Knew That Once is a multimedia experience that offers a fun, colorful, lively and sacred mix of beautiful video footage, live improvisational music, evocative prose, the healing sound of a live choir, comical prophets, and an art installation with 15,000 pieces of origami that will transform the theatre into a glittering cave of possibilities. The production features 30 amazing performers ages 5-70. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students with valid ID, and $10 for children ages 3-10.
March 8: Big Cap Craft Beer & Music Festival - Santa Anita Park
On Saturday, March 8, Santa Anita Park celebrates the spirit of the West with the Big Cap Craft Beer & Music Festival. The event infuses the spirit of country with a contemporary vibe to create an infield festival dedicated to live music, craft beer and thoroughbred racing. Guests can sample over 30 craft breweries, including Eagle Rock Brewery, Lagunitas Brewery, Stone Brewing and Saint Archer Brewery. The event also features live music performances by Brother Yusef, LA Hootenanny (featuring Todd Lowe from HBO’s hit series True Blood) and Doublewide. The Big Cap Craft Beer & Music Festival features a spectacular day of live horse racing with over $1.4 million at stake and takes place from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

March 8: L.A. Derby Dolls March Radness - The Doll Factory
On Saturday, March 8, the L.A. Derby Dolls present the 2014 March Radness Exhibition Bout, taking place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Doll Factory, located in Historic Filipinotown. The high-speed, full-contact roller derby event features Pink vs. Black teams in an All-Star Exhibition bout with Trainers and Campers from the L.A. Derby Dolls yearly March RADness 4 Day training camp and mixed Ri-Ettes skaters. Tickets are priced at $20 for General Admission (standing room only) and $40 for VIP, which includes unreserved bleacher seating, VIP bar and VIP lounge.
March 9: 40th Annual Festival of the Kite - Redondo Beach Pier
Now in its 40th year, the Festival of the Kite is taking place at the Redondo Beach Pier on Sunday, March 9 from noon to 5 p.m. The family-friendly Festival of the Kite is one of Southern California’s longest-running kite festivals, with prizes awarded in various categories from the youngest kite flyer to the youngest at heart. The 11th Annual Yo-Yo competition kicks off the festival on the pier and the winner of the 8th Annual Hot Dog on a Stick Eating Contest takes home a cash prize.
