Dec. 13: Joe Bonamassa at Dolby Theatre
Joe Bonamassa is regarded by many as the premier blues and rock guitarist of his generation. The 36-year-old artist received his first guitar at age 4, and by age 7 he was playing Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan songs note-for-note. Bonamassa has released ten solo studio albums and collaborated with numerous artists, including legends such as B.B. King and Eric Clapton.
Dec. 14: Kevin Fitzpatrick at Book Soup
From the speakeasies of New York City to the watering holes of Hollywood, few writers have earned Dorothy Parker's reputation for drinking as much or as hard, and fewer still could match her notorious skill at wisecracking wit. Kevin C. Fitzpatrick, president of the Dorothy Parker Society, gives us an intoxicating new look at the doyenne of the ripping riposte in his new book, Under the Table: A Dorothy Parker Cocktail Guide.
Dec. 14: The Rock/Bad Boys at Aero Theatre
Join producer Jerry Bruckheimer for a Q&A and book signing of Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes - Four Decades of Filmmaking. The book signing and discussion takes place at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, between screenings of The Rock, starring Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery, and Bad Boys, starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith.
DEC. 14-15: The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker at Royce Hall
On Dec. 14 and 15, Debbie Allen's modern take on the perennial holiday classic returns to Royce Hall at UCLA for its fourth straight year. The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker is written and directed by Debbie Allen, with an original score by Mariah Carey, Arturo Sandoval, Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen, James Ingram and Thump.
Dec. 14-15: Short Films for All Ages at LACMA
The ninth annual Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival returns to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Dec. 14 and 15, 2013.
