Kids Programs at Los Angeles Hotels
Updated on January 28, 2015
There are plenty of hotels with offerings for children and good packages geared specifically to family travel, but these six properties go above and beyond the norm to really make a trip memorable for younger guests. From day camp-style programs to a variety of free treats, these hotels are ready to help you plan the ultimate family vacation in Los Angeles.
Omni Sensational Kids - Omni Los Angeles Hotel
Many people think of the Omni Los Angeles Hotel as primarily catering to business guests and conventioneers, but there are also resort-style amenities for leisure travelers. As part of the Omni Sensational Kids program, children are provided with a complimentary small backpack full of maps, snacks, knick-knacks and crayons. Milk and cookies are sent to the room the first night, too. For the duration of their stay, kids can also borrow a separate, rolly bag with books, games and toys.

Paintbox - Montage Beverly Hills
The Paintbox program at the Montage Beverly Hills is like camp for kids ages five through 12. It can be purchased in half-day or full-day sessions and includes a meal. Activities take place indoors and out, and each day of the week has its own theme, such as “Hooray for Hollywood” on Saturdays, when children can make their own Walk of Fame-style handprints, compete on mock game shows and have their faces painted or get inked with temporary tattoos.

Little Royals Tea - Hotel Bel-Air
Who says high tea is just for grownups? At the Hotel Bel-Air’s Little Royals Tea, the savory side of the menu eschews adult offerings in favor of familiar yet upscale bites like a fancy grilled cheese sandwich. Among the sweets, there is a caramelized apple tart and even swan-shaped cookies. A special surprise gift is included as well. We don’t want to give it away, but the cookies are a good hint. There's also bubbly for the grown ups. Tea is held Fridays and Saturdays, reservations are accepted 3-4 p.m. The cost is $36 per child and $60 for adults.

The Magic Castle Hotel takes pride in surprising its guests with unexpected amenities. Normally, tourists are not allowed to visit the next-door Magic Castle - entry is limited to members and friends of members. But hotel guests are given access - even kids can get into the normally 21-and-over venue, but only during the weekend brunch. Besides that, there are a ton of freebies that will appeal to children, including popsicles by the pool, WiFi, DVD rentals, and mini-bar snacks at the front desk or even delivered to the room - also for free. The pool is 24 hours, just in case regular bedtime rules are lifted during vacation.
The Langham Huntington Kids Program
For a small fee of only $30, the Langham Huntington Kids Program offers children (ages 12 and under) a backpack with a teddy bear picture on it that's filled with goodies like a coloring book, crayons, and a newsletter with suggestions for family-friendly adventures in the area. The cost of the bag also includes entry for the whole family to join in the nightly 7 p.m. s’mores poolside event by the fire pit at the Terrace. Kids cooking classes take place about once a month, and can be reserved through the restaurant reservationist.
