Art of Japan Tour (Aug. 6, 2015)
Immerse yourself in Japanese culture and art by exploring the outstanding collection of painting, netsuke, ceramics and prints on this 50-minute tour that looks at LACMA's collection of works dating from 3000 B.C. to the present. Taking place in the Pavilion for Japanese Art at LACMA, the tour is enhanced by the unique viewing experience.
Nike Basketball 3on3 Tournament (Aug. 7-9, 2015)
The pros may bring the heat to STAPLES Center but you can take your own skills to the outdoor courts on the streets of Downtown L.A. and L.A. LIVE at the 7th annual Nike Basketball 3ON3 Tournament. With over 1,500 teams, 5,000 players and 40,000 spectators, California’s largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament is home to all every kind of “baller”: short, tall, college standout, recreational league champion, intramural player, gym rat, AAU or YMCA participant. In addition to competitive game play, the three-day weekend also features fun activities for players and spectators alike, including: ESPNLA All-Star Celebrity Game, Nike Slam Dunk Contest, free Fan Fest with over 20 interactive vendors, live entertainment and dance performances, and basketball-themed activities and giveaways.

Navy Days (Aug. 7-9, 2015)
Navy Days returns to the Battleship IOWA and The Port of Los Angeles. The three-day celebration will include ship tours, USMC equipment exhibits, entertainment and food trucks. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled and educational weekend!
Abbot Kinney First Fridays (Aug. 7, 2015)

30th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts (Aug. 9, 2015)
The day-long Children's Festival of the Arts has become a widely anticipated community event created by the Hollywood Arts Council. It's a fun day for the whole family, filled with cultural arts performances, music, and activities for children of all ages. Attendees can enjoy seven excellent performances (emceed by Casey McCabe from AMP Radio 97.1) and 14 creative and kid friendly arts workshops. There will also be face-painting, magic, food from All-American Softy Ice Cream, Green Truck and Let's Be Frank Hot Dogs, child celebrities from your favorite TV shows and movies, and Bugs Bunny from Six Flags Magic Mountain! This festival not only introduces young children to art, but also involves them with performances and art workshops representing the rich and diverse cultural fabric that comprises Hollywood and Los Angeles. Los Angeles Cuisine 102 (Aug. 11, 2015)
Explore the uniquely diverse cuisine of Los Angeles, one of the most multicultural (and most delicious) cities in the world, through a lecture and tasting at the Skirball Cultural Center. On Aug. 11, Chef Jet Tila will discuss the various immigrant patterns and ethnic communities throughout the city, from its early history to today, and how they affect Thai cuisine found in Los Angeles. Tila is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu and is part of the team behind Stir Market, a food hall and restaurant in the Fairfax district. He's made appearances on Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Iron Chef America.
South Park Green Carpet Event: A Decade Strong (Aug. 18, 2015)
Celebrate South Park's 10-year anniversary at their Green Carpet Event, "A Decade Strong." Attendees will be treated to the first ever guided public art tour of the area, followed by a reception and neighborhood celebration. Special guests include Kent Twitchell and DJ Marc Vandelay.
