Imaginadora Brazil Reps FAM, June 24-July 1

LATCB’s international marketing department hosted a FAM tour (June 24-July 1) for team members from Imaginadora, LATCB’s newly appointed Brazil representatives. Pedro Romio and Daniela Bergamini experienced an itinerary featuring a sampling of LA’s hotels, restaurants, and services to help expand their product knowledge of Los Angeles. With this newly acquired information the representatives can now go back to Brazil to promote Los Angeles as an exciting and diverse travel destination. Their accommodation was hosted at several properties to showcase the many regions within Los Angeles. LATCB would like to extend appreciation for the many partners who helped to make this a successful FAM.

Air France Trade Events, Paris and Bordeaux, w/o June 23

LATCB Europe co-hosted receptions with Air France for travel trade in Paris and in Bordeaux. The events were attended by French tour operators and agencies who are responsible for selling airline seats and selling vacation packages to the French consumers and business sectors in those regions.  The event in Paris was attended by a total of 50 key members of the French travel trade, giving LATCB an opportunity to highlight product in L.A.  LATCB also created a Facebook promotion to win a trip to L.A. on Air France, which attracted a total of 1,411 entries, from 3,068 visits over a 4 day period.

Los Angeles Travel Experts Reunion & Seminar, Tokyo, June 18

LATCB’s Asia Pacific office organized an update seminar for Los Angeles Travel Experts in Tokyo in cooperation with United Airlines.  The event was a reunion for participants who attended the L.A. Travel Academy from 1998-2005 and was held at the new Lawry's Prime Rib Restaurant in Ebisu, Tokyo. Both LATCB and United Airlines gave a product update presentation.

Visit California Club California Seminar, Tokyo, June 26

LATCB participated in the Club California Seminar organized by Visit California in Tokyo on June 26.  One hundred and ten travel agents, airline staff and media attended the event to hear about upcoming winter activities and events in L.A. including Black Friday, Thanksgiving Shopping, ice-skating at L.A. Live!, Hollywood Christmas Parade, New Year's Eve events, and the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.  This event is held every 3 months to highlight seasonal destination events.  

Garuda Indonesia and Delta Airlines Trade Event, Jakarta, June 2 

LATCB’s Asia Pacific office attended a reception at the Jakarta American Embassy to celebrate the launch of new codesharing service from Jakarta to Los Angeles via Haneda by Garuda Indonesia and Delta Airlines. DL and GA announced a codesharing agreement to place the Garuda code on Delta operated flights from Tokyo (Haneda) International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport.  While there, LATCB met with major tour operators from Indonesia at the reception and on sales calls including Panorama Tours, Astrindo, Tara Tour, Smailing Tour and Travel Service and Golden Rama.

NABHOOD Business of Multicultural & Heritage Tourism Summit, Miami, FL, July 18 LATCB

President & CEO Ernest Wooden, JR. spoke about L.A.’s rich multicultural offerings at NABHOOD 2014, an event presented by The National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD), International Multicultural & Heritage Tourism Network (IMFITN), Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine and Horizons International Group, Inc. to discuss the "Business of Multicultural & Heritage Tourism". The summit was designed to educate attendees on how to gain a share of the $90 Billion+ Multicultural & Heritage Tourism market, share minority travel trends, learn how to market Multicultural & Heritage Tourism and look at diversity issues affecting the Hospitality industry. Multicultural and Heritage tourism is a fast growing segment in the tourism industry.

Chinese Media Arts & Culture FAM, July 14 - 18

In Partnership with Beijing’s Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, the most influential contemporary art museum in China which is featuring an exhibit this fall entitled, The Los Angeles Project, LATCB hosted Chinese cultural media during the week of July 14 for a weeklong exploration of L.A.’s thriving contemporary arts scene. Senior journalists from Vogue China, Harper’s Bazaar Art China and Sanlian Lifeweek toured L.A.’s cutting-edge art galleries and outstanding art museums, including The Getty, Hammer, LACMA and MOCA and met with artists and arts professionals who make L.A. one of the world’s leading cultural centers today. Together, these media outlets reach some 7.2 million print readers and 36 million unique online visitors each month.
