Now in its 19th year, the LA Art Show is the West Coast’s largest art fair, taking place Jan. 15-19, 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown LA. The LA Art Show offers a complete art experience, featuring a unique “fair-within-a-fair” format that showcases four sections of work: Modern & Contemporary, Historic & Traditional Contemporary, Vintage Posters, and the IFPDA Los Angeles Print Fair.

To help you navigate the 180,000 square-foot exhibit hall, we’ve selected the following highlights of the 2014 LA Art Show.
OPENING NIGHT PREMIERE PARTY - JAN. 15
The 2014 LA Art Show kicks off on Wednesday, Jan. 15 with a gala Opening Night Premiere Party, celebrating the official launch of Bordeaux-Los Angeles: 50-Year Partnership. LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember Tom Labonge, actor Tim Robbins, Bordeaux Mayor Alain Juppé, and French Ambassador François Delattre welcome guests to be the first to preview art from over 140 top galleries. The event features an exclusive tasting of world-renowned wines from Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, and modern Latin cuisine from chef John Sedlar of Rivera. All Opening Night ticket proceeds go to the Sister Cities of Los Angeles, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support the year-long cultural exchange.
DIALOGS LA - JAN. 16-19
Each day of the LA Art Show features Dialogs LA, a series of art discussions featuring leading voices from today's art world, including collectors, curators, artists, writers, and prominent art professionals. Highlights include:
- Thursday, Jan.16: “Collecting Fashion/Making History” with FIDM curator Kevin Jones.
- Friday, Jan. 17: “The Impact and Evolution of Latin American Art in the United States,” featuring representatives from MOCA and the Museum of Latin American Art; Featured Program: “Hues of China,” a discussion of Chinese contemporary art.
- Saturday, Jan. 18: “Los Angeles Contemporary Modernism in Pacific Standard Time,” a look at the past, present and future of California art; Featured Program: “Treasures of the Maya Spirit.”
- Sunday, Jan. 19: “The Mural Capital of the World,” a panel led by the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles (MCLA) that addresses LA’s mural resurgence.
CURATED EXHIBITIONS & INSTALLATIONS
The LA Art Show features an international lineup of specially curated exhibitions and installations, ranging from local galleries and emerging LA artists to works from China, Korea, Latin America and France. Highlights include:
- Hues of China: a special exhibition of Chinese Contemporary art comprised of three sections, The Power of Emerging Generation, Chinese Ceramics, and a selection of elite art galleries.
- The Present of the Century: a special exhibition by Choi Jeong Hwa, the internationally recognized leader of Korea's Pop Art movement, featuring large scale, colorful pillars.
- Sister Cities Los Angeles: several curated exhibits, including FLARE, honoring the 50th anniversary of Los Angeles and her sister city Bordeaux; a solo photography exhibition by Gil Garcetti; and the collection of works from celebrity and art collector, Cheech Marin.
Los Angeles Jewelry, Antique, & Design Show
Your LA Art Show ticket also gets you into the Los Angeles Jewelry, Antique, & Design Show. The concurrent show features collections from renowned international dealers, investors and designers. Highlights include Treasures of the Maya Spirit, featuring more than 200 extraordinary examples of Pre-Columbian Maya Art; and the Tribal and American Indian Art section, showcasing the finest examples of tribal art from around the world.
