March 11, 2015: Jim Parsons of "The Big Bang Theory" Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Jim Parsons will be honored with the 2,545th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. PST with a live-stream exclusively on www.walkoffame.com. The star (in the category of Television) will be dedicated in front of the historic Hudson Apartments, located at 6533 Hollywood Blvd. “Jim’s fans have been anxiously awaiting this well-deserved star ceremony and they will get a big bang out of seeing our recipient receiving this honor!” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. Helping emcee and Hollywood Chamber President/CEO Leron Gubler to unveil the star will be television producer and Walk of Famer Chuck Lorre and DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Jim Parsons was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He earned a BA from the University of Houston and a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Old Globe Theater/University of San Diego. A four-time Emmy winner, Golden Globe® Award winner and SAG Nominee, Jim Parsons continues to bring a winning combination of indelible charm, charisma and comedic timing to his roles on screen and on stage, establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s leading men. Parsons is beloved for his role as Sheldon Cooper on CBS’ critically-acclaimed hit “The Big Bang Theory.” He has received several awards for his hilarious performances, including four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy, and the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

The Big Bang Theory is currently in its eighth season. The CBS sitcom centers on characters Leonard, Howard, Sheldon, Amy, Bernadette, and Raj, all of whom are scientists, and their next-door neighbor, Penny.  Although The Big Bang Theory is set in Pasadena, the episodes are filmed at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. The Big Bang Theory received its fourth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2014. Other nominations include Outstanding Lead Actor for three-time Emmy winner Jim Parsons, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Mayim Bialik, and Outstanding Guest Actor for Bob Newhart.

The four male lead characters work at the California Institute of Technology, a world-renowned private research university that boasts 32 Nobel Prizes among its faculty and alumni. Founded in 1891, Caltech is one of Pasadena’s Hidden Gems - its 128-acre campus has a rich architectural heritage that includes 18 buildings that were built before World War II.
