Jaymee Mandeville's Los Angeles
Jaymee Mandeville, Mixologist/Bar Manager for Drago Centro, shares her favorite places to get a drink in Los Angeles.
Providence
Amazing food paired with some of the most thoughtful cocktails. If you have brought someone to Providence, you must really like them.
1886 Bar at The Raymond
Keep an eye out, otherwise you will drive right by and miss 1886, this little house/bar attached to the Raymond, and that will be a loss for sure. The Ramos Fizz will make you smile, with a milk mustache for sure.
Pour Vous
This is where I go when I want to feel Hollywood chic. I'm not much for nightclubs these days but I do remember when 40 Deuce was in full swing... the Houston brothers have kept the energy and polished up the place Parisian style.
Neat
I hate driving, so it definitely takes some incentive for me to drive to Glendale. Neat feels like my home away from home (I think that statement is true for Aidan [Demarest, owner of Neat]!) But in a sense it is my bar away from the bar I work in. The program is very different than the one I run. Always different liquor on the shelves and poured the way I like it... in the glass. Plus, this is where my Li'l Twisted twin and I have been behind the stick together!
Villains Tavern
Talk about homey bars where you can kick your feet up and relax. At Villains you would never assume you are in the middle of a warehouse district in Downtown L.A. There's an array of shrub driven cocktails with picnic style seating and live music on the back patio.
Tom Bergin's Tavern
Now this is what an Irish bar should be. Who knew there was such a vast world beyond Irish Car Bombs! Best Irish coffee I've ever had in Los Angeles -- it's a drink I dream about, and I'm not even a daily coffee drinker. Not sure what it takes to get my name on a clover, but I'm going to keep going back until I get one. Oh, and if you want something to drink alongside your Powers, try a Harvey Weiss Banger (Galliano, OJ, Hef).
The Satellite
Live indie rock and $2 PBR, spacey decor and hipsters from wall to wall. I used to drink Bushmills there, but recently they have amped up their whiskey collection yet kept the dive bar feel.
Las Perlas
Shelves filled with my favorite agave spirits! If only they had the Mexican food to pair. I love sinking into a booth with friends and enjoying some amazing mezcal!
The Varnish
Definitely grab a drink at Cole's as you wait to be seated at Varnish. Once inside, it feels as if you have been transported back to the '30s. Bartender's Choice is the way to go, you will never be disappointed and will be entertained by the craftsmanship that goes into each drink.
