According to Business Insider, the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame is the number one most visited landmark in the United States (via Swarm).
The world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame features more than 2,500 terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalk along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street. The five-pointed stars honor the accomplishments of actors, musicians, directors, producers and others in the entertainment industry.
HOW TO ATTEND A WALK OF FAME STAR CEREMONY
There is a public viewing area for all Walk of Fame star ceremonies, which are free and do not have assigned seating. For those unable to attend in person, star ceremonies are streamed live at www.walkoffame.com.
- Wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated and bring sunscreen.
- Chairs or step ladders are not permitted in the audience area of the ceremony.
- Star ceremony begins promptly at 11:30 a.m. and will be over by 12:15 p.m.
- Crowds must disperse immediately following the end of the star ceremony to clear the sidewalk and the street.
The late Selena Quintanilla was honored with the 2,622nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Nov. 3, 2017. The star was dedicated in the category of Recording at 1750 N. Vine St. in front of the historic Capitol Records Building. A record-breaking crowd of 4,500 fans attended the ceremony, surpassing the 4,000 fans that came to the star ceremony of mariachi singer, Vicente Fernandez.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel will be honored with the 2,654th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, January 22 at 11:30 a.m. PST. The first star of 2019 will be dedicated in the category of Recording at 6752 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the Musicians Institute.
“Gustavo Dudamel is one of the world’s premier conductors of today’s world of classical music. He evokes the sounds of the great classical musicians and seamlessly serves it to new and renewed fans around the world,” said Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “We celebrate Gustavo Dudamel’s accomplishments and welcome his classic shine to our Walk of Fame.” Joining Emcee Rana Ghadban, the new President & CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to unveil the star will be Helen Hunt and John Williams.

Dudamel is celebrating his tenth anniversary as Music & Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic during the orchestra’s centennial season. Gustavo Dudamel was born in 1981 in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. A lifelong advocate for music education and social development through art, Dudamel was shaped by his childhood experience with El Sistema, the immersive musical training program initiated in 1975 by José Antonio Abreu. Entering his 19th year as Music Director of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Dudamel also carries on the work of his late mentor with his ongoing commitment to El Sistema in Venezuela, and by supporting numerous Sistema-inspired projects around the world.
With the LA Phil, Dudamel continues to expand the reach of his signature Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) initiative, including the 2019 opening of a new Frank Gehry-designed facility in Inglewood.
The Gustavo Dudamel Foundation was created in 2012 with the goal of promoting access to music as a human right and a catalyst for learning, integration, and social change.
One of the few classical musicians to truly reach mainstream audiences, Gustavo Dudamel has been featured three times on CBS’ 60 Minutes and was the subject of a PBS special, Dudamel: Conducting a Life. He has been interviewed on CNN, Conan, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Sesame Street. Gustavo was the inspiration For Amazon Studio’s Award-Winning Series “Mozart In The Jungle” in which he also appears and - together with members of YOLA - became the first classical musician to participate in the Super Bowl Halftime Show. At John Williams’ personal request, Dudamel guest-conducted on the soundtrack for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Dudamel also recorded James Newton Howard’s soundtrack to Disney’s holiday blockbuster The Nutcracker and makes an on-screen cameo.
