Elvis Presley would have been 80 years old on Thursday, Jan. 8. Fans in Los Angeles and around the world are paying tribute and celebrating the King’s birthday. From live music performances to special food menus and a tiki party, read on for Elvis Presley 80th birthday events.

Elvis 80th Birthday Bash - AVALON HOLLYWOOD
City Councilman Tom LaBonge and Art Fein present the 28th annual Elvis Birthday Bash at Avalon Hollywood. The Elvis 80th Birthday Bash features live, original tributes by 30 bands, 1950s-inspired food and bar, and the Elvis Birthday Bash Band (Dave Raven, Harry Orlov, Marty Rifkin, Paul Marshall and Skip Edwards). The Elvis 80th Birthday Bash is taking place from 5-9 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door. Proceeds benefit Sister Cities of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Fire Department Historical Society and LAPD Hollywood Police Activities League.

Tiki No welcomes Elvis fans and impersonators alike to enjoy music, signature cocktails and hearty food to celebrate the King’s birthday. As a tribute to Elvis’ years in Hawaii and his deep love for the culture, the North Hollywood tiki bar has created a special menu inspired by his hits:
> Hunka Hunka Burning Love: “Three Olives Coconut Water Elvis Presley Vodka,” Crème De Banana, lime, honey, red passion fruit, cherry soaked in Bacardi 151 and set on fire
> Blue Suede Shoe: Ketel One Oranje, Blue Curacao, fresh lemon and lime juice, splash of Sprite
> Jailhouse on the Rocks: Southern Comfort, Crème De Banana, Blue Curacao
> Heartbreak Hotel: Peanut Rum Liqueur, Crème De Cacao, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Crème De Banana, bacon garnish
The Burnt to a Crisp food truck is offering The King grilled sandwich with peanut butter and banana (Elvis’ favorite), along with barbecue items like pulled pork, tri-tip brisket and chili fries. Guests are encouraged to dress like Elvis and Priscilla Presley for a chance to win a $100 gift card to Firefly restaurant in Studio City. The Tiki No Elvis birthday celebration is taking place from 5 p.m. - 2 a.m. Specialty Elvis cocktails are priced at $8 and food is $7-12.

The Oinkster Hollywood and The Oinkster Eagle Rock are celebrating Elvis' 80th birthday with culinary tributes to the King and Elvis tunes all day long. The January Burger of the Month is the Thai Elvis Burger, featuring a seasoned pork patty topped with house-made peanut satay sauce, sliced fried plantains and char siu pork belly. The Thai Elvis Burger is available for a limited time before it leaves the building. The January Shake Of The Month is the All Shook Up, made with Fosselman's premium Banana Walnut Ice Cream, Creamy Peanut Butter and bacon bits.

Salt & Straw - Larchmont Village
In celebration of the King, Salt & Straw in Larchmont Village is hosting a live tribute performance from 6-7 p.m. and is scooping a special flavor inspired by Elvis’ peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches throughout January. The Elvis Birthday Flavor is a Salt & Straw tradition - this year’s version features homemade blackberry orange jam swirled into a banana pudding ice cream with homemade peanut butter-bacon butterfingers. Salt & Straw is also featuring special Happy Birthday Elvis mini-pies made with peanut butter, bananas and melted brown sugar on a pretzel crust, topped with Happy Birthday Elvis ice cream, whipped cream and praline bacon.
