Located  in the heart of Hollywood, the Hollywood Museum (Red Route, Stop 1) is home to one of the most extensive collections of Hollywood memorabilia in the world. Among the treasures: Marilyn Monroe’s million dollar honeymoon dress, and Max Factor’s original “color rooms” where Marilyn became a honey blonde and Lucille Ball a famous redhead.  

The ONE Archives Gallery & Museum in West Hollywood  (Red Route, Stop 6) features rotating LGBT exhibits, and is the largest repository of LGBT materials the world.

The Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles (Purple Route, Stop 33)  is of interest from both an architectural & performance perspective. The three original performance spaces remind visitors of the Lincoln Center in New York, but the standout is the Walt Disney Concert Hall, an architectural and acoustic masterpiece designed by Frank Gehry and home to the LA Philharmonic. Free audio tours of the Concert Hall are offered most days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Looking for a dramatic backdrop for a photo?  This is the place.  

The landmark TCL Chinese Theatre (Red Route, Stop 1) is most famous for the forecourt display of the hand and footprints of stars such as Judy Garland and Cary Grant, with new star prints being added regularly. But the Chinese-style architecture itself, both inside and out, is remarkable and the main theatre has recently been converted to an IMAX Theatre, making it a great place to catch a movie.

For some literal star-gazing, stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Red Route, between Stop 15 and Stop 1) and snap a selfie by your favorite star on the sidewalk. Stars from the LGBT community include Melissa Etheridge, Jodie Foster, Ellen Degeneres, Jane Lynch, Neil Patrick Harris, Ricky Martin and Elton John.

For shopping, head to Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood (Red Route, Stop 6) and browse the many boutiques squarely aimed at the LBGT customer. The Los Angeles Sporting Club is the largest of these shops, featuring 4,000 square feet of contemporary men’s fashions.

For the latest high end brand offerings, world-famous Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills (Red Route, Stop 7) provides an unrivalled range of options, with the added bonus of a chance to rub shoulders with celebrities shopping, lunching, heading to yoga, and generally living the LA lifestyle. 

One of the most concentrated populations of the LGBT community can be found in West Hollywood, where gay residents make up 40% of the population and there are a plethora of bars and restaurants frequented by the LGBT community. The Abbey (Red Route, Stop 6) was voted “Best Gay Bar in the World’’ by MTV’s Logo TV network. Grab a meal or drink in the live show.

From acclaimed chef and LGBT activist Susan Feniger comes Mud Hen Tavern (Red Route, Stop 13), a revamp of the former STREET space into a new neighborhood bar and restaurant that offers seasonal, gourmet pub and comfort food in a warm and relaxed setting. The menu features a wide variety of rustic dishes and bar bites, with the global influences that Feniger and Executive Chef/Partner Kajsa Alger naturally bring to the table.
