DEC. 27: VERTIGO - EGYPTIAN THEATRE
Director Alfred Hitchcock’s psychological suspense masterpiece, Vertigo continues to mesmerize audiences 55 years after it was first released. Jimmy Stewart plays retired San Francisco police detective "Scottie" Ferguson, who becomes obsessed with Madeleine Elster (Kim Novak), a troubled woman he is privately hired to follow. Showing at the Egyptian Theatre in a 70mm print, Vertigo’s hypnotic visuals never looked better.
DEC. 28: FRESH FEST 2013 - NOKIA THEATRE L.A. LIVE
Hip-hop fans, don’t miss Fresh Fest 2013, featuring a cool collection of old school rappers and musicians all on one stage. The exclusive line-up includes The Game, Ja Rule, Mystikal, E-40, Too $hort and many more, performing for one night only on Saturday, Dec. 28 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE.
DEC. 28-29: TRAVELING THE SILK ROAD - NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM
To coincide with its spectacular new exhibit, Traveling the Silk Road, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County presents a weekend of activities on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 28-29. The event takes place at the museum on both days from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring activities like stringing beads and jewelry-making, as well as environmental music performances and Silk Road storytelling at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
DEC. 29: EQUESTFEST - LOS ANGELES EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Equestfest: A Showcase of Horses and Riders is a family-friendly event that takes place on Sunday, Dec. 29 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. Equestfest showcases many of the equestrian units that are participating in the 125th Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, with beautiful horses and talented riders performing drills and dances, and demonstrating trick riding and roping. Attendees can stroll through the stables, talk to the riders, learn about the many different breeds. Great music as well as food and beverage concessions are also on site. Gates open at 10:30 a.m., and the show begins at “High Noon.”
DEC. 29: LEIMERT PARK ART WALK
The Leimert Park Art Walk is a free, self-guided visual and performance art experience that happens on the last Sunday of every month. The family friendly event features art, culture, food, live music performances in a variety of genres, and much more.
