November has arrived, which means it’s time for Thanksgiving and get togethers with family and friends. The whole month is packed with events, from superstar concerts to the L.A. Auto Show and the quirky Pasadena Doo Dah Parade. Read on and find out what’s happening in L.A. this month.
Nov. 8: Los Lobos - Valley Performing Arts Center
On Saturday, Nov. 8, East L.A.’s hometown heroes Los Lobos take the stage at the Valley Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of Cal State Northridge. Los Lobos will be supported by fellow Grammy Award winners, Los Lonely Boys, the rock power trio from Texas.
Nov. 8–9: The Festival 2014 - Port of Los Angeles
The Festival 2014 features some of the world’s greatest artisanal beer, cider, and mead makers. The festival is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8-9 at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. Admission to the festival includes a special-edition sample glass, plus the opportunity to meet more than 70 of the best beer, cider, and mead makers in the world. Additionally, a portion of ticket sales will go directly to the festival’s nonprofit partner, Sharefest. Each ticket is worth a two-ounce pour, and the pricing is as follows: $5 for 5, or a special deal of $20 for 24.
NOV. 8-9: WHAT’S OUT THERE WEEKEND: RALPH CORNELL
On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8-9, What’s Out There Weekend will focus on the legacy of Los Angeles-based landscape architect Ralph Cornell, who opened one of the city’s first landscape architecture practices in 1919. Considered by some to be the “Olmsted of Los Angeles," Cornell is known for his design restraint and thoughtful use of indigenous plantings. His work can be seen throughout Southern California, including the Downtown L.A. Civic Center, Beverly Gardens Park, the UCLA campus and Hillside Memorial Park. What's Out There Weekend features free, expert-led tours of more than a dozen significant Cornell-designed landscapes in greater Los Angeles.

Nov. 12: Jimmy Page & Chris Cornell - The Theatre at Ace Hotel
An Evening with Jimmy Page In Conversation with Chris Cornell features the Led Zeppelin guitar god and the Soundgarden frontman on stage at The Theatre at Ace Hotel. The event coincides with the release of "Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page," the photographic autobiography and visual history of the legendary rock star. The book features hundreds of photographs selected by Page to represent significant moments in his extraordinary career. Purchase of a $100 ticket includes a copy of “Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page.” The $150 ticket includes hand stamped copy of “Jimmy Page” and an event poster. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the event begins at 8:30 p.m.
Nov. 15: Pasadena Doo Dah Parade
On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade is celebrating 37 years of irreverent playfulness on the streets of Pasadena. The 2014 parade steps off at 11 a.m. along Colorado Boulevard in East Pasadena. The parade features a memorable cast of local eccentrics, dissenters, pundits, lone wolfs, steampunks and merrymakers, including the Moveable Feast, the Mile-High Bed, the Candy Girls, Flying Babies Trapeze, The Army of Toy Soldiers, Kinetic Pastry Science Mobile Muffins, The Billionaires, Vegetables of Laguna Beach, Partying Parrotheads, the Songbird Robot, the Doo Dah house band Snotty Scotty & the Hankies, and many more. The parade is free to watch, and spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Nov. 20: “Legends of Ska” - GRAMMY Museum
“Legends of Ska” celebrates the music and culture of Jamaica as a newly independent nation more than 50 years ago, and explores the history of the times and the island's musical impact worldwide. On Thursday, Nov. 20, the GRAMMY Museum is screening the documentary, which focuses primarily on the years 1962-1966 with vintage and contemporary concert footage, authentic tourist 8mm home movies, photographs, newsreels, artifacts and rare interviews. After the screening, filmmaker Brad Klein, along with Keith Scott (Jamaican music historian), Phil Chen OD (banjo man from the Legends of Ska concerts) and Alex Desert (film narrator and ska singer) will participate in a panel discussion. Tickets are $10, the screening starts at 7 p.m.

Nov. 21: Usher - STAPLES Center
Following a blockbuster performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards and the release of his new single "She Came To Give It To You," superstar performer Usher is touring North America this fall, bringing "The UR Experience" to STAPLES Center on Friday, Nov. 21. Packed with a repertoire of hits spanning his 20-year career, the critically-acclaimed showman will give his fans a unique experience that includes fresh takes on early and recent songs, as well as new music from his forthcoming eighth studio album. "With The UR Experience I want to give my fans an ever-changing live show full of surprises and special guests," says Usher. "I am really excited to be with my fans and give them an Usher experience like they've never seen or heard before."

Nov. 21–30: LA Auto Show - Los Angeles Convention Center
Founded in 1907, the Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the most influential automotive events in the world. On Nov. 21-30, the L.A. Auto Show takes center stage at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The 2014 edition of the show is expecting debuts of nearly 60 new vehicles. Attendees will be among the first in the world to see these new cars and trucks up close and personal. During the ten-day show, the world’s automakers will unveil the future of transportation across all vehicle categories, including luxury, performance, hybrid, electric and hydrogen fuel-cell. There will also be an array of aftermarket tuners and fine accessories, such as infotainment, audio, rims and much more. General Admission tickets (ages 13 and up) for Monday-Thursday are $12, and $15 for Friday-Sunday.
Nov. 22: UCLA vs. USC - Rose Bowl Stadium
One of the greatest rivalries in all of college sports is renewed once again when the USC Trojans face off against the UCLA Bruins at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The storied rivalry has featured some of the greatest college football players in history, and one of the all-time great football games, the 1967 “Game of the Century,” when No. 4 USC defeated No. 1 UCLA 21-20 and went on to win the National Championship. UCLA currently owns L.A. bragging rights, after defeating its crosstown rival in 2012 and 2013. USC leads the overall series, 44-30-7.
Nov. 28–29, Dec. 6: Fleetwood Mac - The Forum
Hall of Fame rock group Fleetwood Mac is performing three concerts at The Forum as part of its current “On with the Show” tour. With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Fleetwood Mac is widely regarded as one of the best-selling bands in history. The tour is getting special attention thanks to the return of keyboardist Christine McVie, who rejoins her bandmates Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Stevie Nicks.
