Los Angeles has a rich Latino heritage, and the city’s vibrant Latino communities continue to influence and make lasting contributions its culture. It comes as no surprise that L.A.’s world-famous museums are teeming with outstanding artworks by Latin American masters. Read on for a guide to selected masterpieces of Latin American art at Los Angeles museums.


In September 2017, the Getty Trust will launch Pacific Standard Time: LA / LA. This multi-million dollar undertaking will help position Los Angeles as a major culture capital rooted in Latin American culture. A total of 46 venues will participate in Pacific Standard Time: LA /LA, featuring programing in both visual and performing arts. Its series of groundbreaking exhibitions will take a fresh look at major artistic movements and contemporary artistic practices, and will include artists from South and Central American, the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean.
