Los Angeles County Museum Of Art (LACMA)
A proper museum of art for a modern metropolis. Peruse the permanent collection or explore the thoughtful featured exhibits on campus. Save time for drinks at Stark Bar near the very photogenic BP Grand Entrance.
Zuma Beach
A leisurely drive north along the Pacific Coast Highway will bring you to the broad swath of beach called Zuma in Malibu. While you're there, walk out to Point Dume and discover Paradise Cove for lunch.
Rose Bowl Flea Market
“One man's trash is another man's treasure” has never been more true than at this massive monthly bazaar of everything under the sun. Bring your stamina and sunblock to Pasadena for a day of haggling over an antique lamp and chomping on a bone dry churro. Once you throw in the towel, nearby Old Town is a great stroll and the Norton Simon will inspire with its excellent collection of art.
Helms Bakery District
This former bakery complex is now a beehive of cool design stores for home furnishings, Arcana Books, and a number of quality restaurants, most notably Father's Office, with an assortment of microbrews and a house burger that is to die for. Helms is also the perfect base camp for the monthly Culver City Art Walk.
Rodeo Drive Walk of Style
You don't have to be rich and famous to appreciate the finer things in life, and Rodeo Drive has plenty of window shopping for all comers. To name a few highlights along Rodeo and the adjacent streets; Harry Winston, Mr. Chow, Taschen Books, Dior, Maestro's, and of course the luxury department stores -- Barney's, Saks, and Neiman-Marcus -- to make you feel like a millionaire for a day!
Abbot Kinney
One of the hippest streets in Los Angeles, Abbot Kinney offers numerous outstanding restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and a distinctive air of California cool. Don't miss Gjelina (if you can get a table) and Axe for good eats.
