The Broad is a spectacular contemporary art museum built by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad. The museum is home to the 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art in the world.

The Broad’s Visitor Services Associates will offer a family-friendly scavenger hunt amid the 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, as well as pop-up gallery talks throughout the day. First-come, first-served, free general admission access to the museum will also be available via the onsite standby line.

Built in 1926, the Richard J. Riordan Central Library is the third largest central library in the U.S. and houses more than ten million items, from popular fiction titles to rare genealogical publications, historic photographs and U.S. patents.

The Central Library will host a sugar skull workshop for children and adults alike to discover the significance behind this iconic symbol of Día de los Muertos celebrations. Taking place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., the free workshop is open to all ages. Guests are also invited to attend docent-led tours of this Downtown L.A. landmark and architectural marvel at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Located adjacent to MOCA, the Colburn School is comprised of four academic units united by a single philosophy: all who have a desire to study the performing arts should have the opportunity and access to excellent training. During All Access, the Colburn School is presenting a daylong schedule of interactive demos and behind-the-scenes access to rehearsals.

The day kicks off with a surprise "Interactive Performance" on Colburn’s South Plaza from 11:00 a.m. - noon. Guests can step up to the podium and lead a small chamber orchestra as the maestro in the South Plaza Tent from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. (No experience is necessary.) From 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Colburn invites guests of all talent levels to sing along with singer and educator Leeav Sofer in Thayer Hall. From 3:00 – 3:45 p.m., members of the Community School Concert Choir share an open rehearsal with Grand Avenue guests in Mayman Hall.

With expansive green space for gatherings large and small, the 12-acre Grand Park celebrates L.A. County’s cultural vitality and is host to community events, cultural experiences, holiday celebrations, and many other activities that engage and attract visitors from all communities.

In partnership with Self-Help Graphics & Art and LORE Media & Art, Grand Park presents Downtown Día De Los Muertos: Altars + Art throughout the day. The exhibit includes 50 altars and art installations created exclusively for the event by local Los Angeles artists and community groups. This year, each installation reflects the theme Looking to the Past to Build the Future. While the exhibit is open, guests are invited to join community artists on special guided tours of the exhibit and altar-making and Aztec dance workshops from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tours begin at the Grand Park stairs on Grand Avenue between Temple and 1st Street.

Grand Performances presents high-quality music, dance, theater, and more at California Plaza in the heart of Downtown L.A. Beloved by audiences and praised by critics, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) is a preeminent interpreter of historical masterworks as well as a champion of contemporary composers.

For All Access, Grand Performances and LACO have teamed up to host an unprecedented day of music, crafts and fun for all ages at Cal Plaza from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Attendees will enjoy an intimate concert experience by LACO with music from classical and contemporary composers alike highlighted at this unique outdoor venue.

Founded in 1986, LA Opera has become, under the leadership of Eli and Edythe Broad General Director Plácido Domingo, the fourth largest opera company in the country and "...stands out as a newly important force in American Opera." (Mark Swed, Los Angeles Times).

During All Access, attendees are invited experience all the different art forms that go into the creation of an opera. Guests can enjoy a recital featuring members of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program, who will sing highlights from LA Opera’s current season and favorite arias and duets from 12:15 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Stern Grand Hall at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. During the LA Opera Backstage Tour, guests will see demonstrations and hear experts describe the steps involved in creating an opera performance. Tours will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Throughout the day, guests can also participate in a self-guided scavenger hunt to discover clues and surprising finds hidden in plain sight at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Redefining what an orchestra can be, the LA Phil is as vibrant as Los Angeles, one of the world's most open and dynamic cities. Led by Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, this internationally renowned orchestra harnesses the transformative power of live music to build community, foster intellectual and artistic growth, and nurture the creative spirit. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall is the LA Phil’s home on Grand Avenue and is renowned as one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. 

Celebrating its centennial season, the LA Phil returns to Grand Ave Arts: All Access will a plethora of family-friendly activities at Walt Disney Concert Hall. From noon-3:30 p.m., guests can experience the ever-popular instrument petting zoo in The Blue Ribbon Garden; participate in Toyota Symphonies for Youth: Music Workshops designed for kids 5-11 and their families; and visit the outdoor Keck Auditorium for a music activity with an LA Phil teaching artist. Outside Walt Disney Concert Hall, attendees can find a selection of L.A.’s best food trucks, curated by Smorgasburg LA. Food will be available for purchase from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Established in 1979, MOCA is the only artist-founded museum in Los Angeles. MOCA is dedicated to collecting and exhibiting contemporary art. MOCA houses one of the most compelling collections of contemporary art in the world, comprising roughly 7,000 objects, and has a diverse history of ground-breaking, historically-significant exhibitions.

MOCA is offering all-day free admission to see the permanent collection and group exhibition One Day at a Time: Manny Farber and Termite Art. Guests can also enjoy MOCA Store’s annual sidewalk sale and take home unique artistic souvenirs at discounted prices on the Sculpture Plaza. New this year, MOCA will host a free workshop from noon – 3:00 p.m., inviting visitors to experiment with creating wearable pieces of art out of flowers, images, and found objects.

One of the nation's largest performing arts centers and a cultural anchor of Los Angeles, The Music Center convenes artists, communities and ideas with the goal of enriching the cultural lives of every resident in L.A. County. The Music Center includes four extraordinary venues (Ahmanson Theatre, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Mark Taper Forum, Walt Disney Concert Hall) and is the home of four renowned resident companies – LA Phil, LA Opera, Center Theatre Group and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The Music Center is also recognized for its illustrious dance programming, Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center.

During All Access, The Music Center will host tours of its four world-renowned theatres. Visitors can learn about the buildings’ unique history, architectural insights and little-known facts that make these theatres home to the best of the performing arts in Los Angeles. Tours of all four venues run from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with Walt Disney Concert Hall tours running for an additional hour until 4:00 p.m. Family-friendly performances will be facilitated by The Music Center On Tour Artists in Stern Grand Hall at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. A Touch of Classical will perform at 11:15 a.m. and North Wind Quintet will take the stage at 1:15 p.m. Guests can also enjoy a free interactive DIY workshop with Dr. Craig Woodson, who will lead children of all ages in making their own "buzzing plucker" instrument.

The Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) is an interdisciplinary contemporary arts center for innovative visual, performing and media arts. Located inside Walt Disney Concert Hall, REDCAT houses a theater, a gallery space and a lounge.

REDCAT invites All Access attendees to explore an exhibition of work by influential artist and filmmaker Morgan Fisher in The Gallery at REDCAT. Guided tours of the gallery will be available at noon and 2:00 p.m. Families are also encouraged to stop in from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to view a selection of short and animated films from the REDCAT International Children’s Film Festival.
