Gay Los Angeles: 24-Hour Diners
Updated on November 18, 2014
One of the reasons to visit Los Angeles is that there's just so much to do here - celebrity sightseeing, shopping on Melrose or Rodeo Drive, sunbathing in Venice, nightclubbing in Hollywood. With so many activities to check off your to-do list, when will you find the time to eat? Fortunately, L.A. has diners open 24-7 in nearly every neighborhood. We've listed some of the best late-night restaurants in the city.
101 Coffee Shop
While the bulk of L.A. gay nightlife is centered in West Hollywood, there are a number of weeknight parties located in Hollywood. If you hit one of these events and dance up an appetite by the 2 a.m. last call, your best bet for late-night munchies is the 101 Coffee Shop, located in the Best Western Plus Hollywood Hills Hotel. The classic diner fare is affordable, and the vintage portraits decorating the restaurant round out your Hollywood experience.

Visitors to Los Angeles will quickly realize how expensive this city can be. The frugal tourist may find himself staying at accommodations in the significantly less expensive Valley located north of Hollywood. In that case, when your stomach starts grumbling after midnight and you don't feel like traversing over the hill, your best bet is to stop by Du-Par's in Studio City. This classic diner is open all night long and offers some of the best pies in SoCal.
Fred 62
Hipster tourists will most likely find themselves on L.A.'s trendy East Side, so when those late-night munchies kick in, be sure to hit Fred 62 in Los Feliz. The consciously kitschy diner blends traditional coffee shop elements—such as an old-fashioned counter and ice cream fountain—with more modern automotive aspects—like booths modeled after vintage car interiors. Be sure to try their fried mac n' cheese balls.

Kitchen 24
Gay tourists will find themselves in West Hollywood sooner or later. As L.A.'s "Boys Town," WeHo hosts the majority of the city's LGBT parties. If you get too hungry from all the drinking and dancing, Kitchen 24 is your best bet for a post-bar binge. The waitstaff, clad in pink tops and chocolate brown bootie-chokers, are appetizers in themselves. Must-try items include the Smac and Cheese and the restaurant's homemade cupcake de jour.

The Original Pantry Cafe
Once upon a time, L.A.'s Downtown district was the center of the entire city, and within the last decade, this once-derelict neighborhood has enjoyed massive gentrification. If you're residing in one of DTLA's many luxury hotels, or just hitting up the area's edgy nightlife scene, be sure to hit up The Original Pantry for a late-night nosh. This diner has been operating 24-7 for the better part of a century, thus the motto "Since 1924, never closed, never without a customer."
