Downtown Los Angeles has become one of the city’s most exciting regions, featuring world-class hotels, exciting events and a thriving culinary scene. One of the best ways to discover Downtown L.A.’s restaurants is during Restaurant Week. B.S. Taqueria
In April 2015, chef Ray Garcia partnered with restaurateur Bill Chait to open B.S. Taqueria on 7th Street's thriving restaurant row. The casual space boasts a colorful, whimsical design by All the Bells & Whistles. Guests order at the counter, get a number and seat themselves. The full bar features cocktails by longtime Chait collaborator, Julian Cox. Start with an order of the addictive lemon-pepper chicken chicharrones - chicken skins, chicken oysters, lemon and shishito. Tacos include chorizo and papas, bologna, lengua and a veggie option, calabacitas. Don’t miss the tres leches cake, with brown sugar meringue and macadamia nut.

Cafe Gratitude Arts District
Cafe Gratitude is a collection of 100% organic vegan restaurants that specialize in gourmet raw and cooked cuisine. The third Cafe Gratitude opened in March 2015 on the ground floor of the massive One Santa Fe complex in the Arts District. The restaurant’s plant-based dishes have names to suit every mood, whether it’s “inspired,” “awesome” or “grateful.” Cafe Gratitude’s Summer Restaurant Week menu includes starters like “Celebrating” - collard spring rolls with daikon and wakame filling, carrots, sunflower sprouts, avocado, Japanese pickled vegetables, sesame wasabi and Thai almond dipping sauces.

A perennial Restaurant Week favorite, Fogo de Chão showcases churrasco, the Brazilian art of roasting meats over an open fire. In February 2015, Fogo de Chão opened a sleek, 8,000 square-foot location in Downtown L.A. The dining ritual will be familiar to fans of the original La Cienega restaurant. Carvers are signaled with a double-sided disc. The green side tells them to keep delivering a selection of meats that are carved tableside. Options include the signature picanha (a prime cut of top sirloin), leg of lamb, pork loin and chicken. The red side tells the carvers to stand by until you’re ready for more. The Market Table features fresh seasonal salads, vegetables, imported cheeses and cured meats. Brazilian side dishes such as pão de queijo (traditional Brazilian cheese bread), crispy polenta, garlic mashed potatoes and caramelized bananas are served tableside.
Nest at WP24
Located on the 24th floor of the Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, Nest at WP24 is an approachable and modern restaurant and lounge concept that complements the refined fine dining of the adjacent WP24 by Wolfgang Puck. The three-course Restaurant Week dinner menu starts with tempura market vegetables, "tiny" dumplings or pork belly buns. Mains include roasted young chicken and salt & pepper prawns. For dessert, choose from Bangkok Coup (coconut pandan ice cream, kaffir lime cake, pineapple), Vietnamese coffee tart and mango cheesecake.

The Biergarten at The Standard Downtown LA
The Rooftop at The Standard Downtown LA features one of L.A.’s top hotel bars, offering spectacular panoramic city views, iconic waterbed pods and one of the city’s liveliest pool scenes. For Restaurant Week, the outdoor Biergarten features German classics interpreted by Austrian chef, Kurt Gutenbrunner. Lunch menu options include a choice of sausage, including currywurst, cheddar kurtwurst, standard brat; salads like red cabbage and apple, cucumber and potato, and white cabbage and caraway; pastry and a choice of 6 oz beer.

Events: Street Food Cinema
There are great events happening every night in Downtown L.A. The summer edition of Restaurant Week coincides with prime outdoor movie season. One of the most popular series is Street Food Cinema, taking place at Exposition Park and other venues every Saturday night throughout the summer. Street Food Cinema features a mix of outdoor movies, food trucks, live music, interactive games and more. On Saturday, July 18, Street Food Cinema presents a 40th anniversary screening of the classic cult favorite, Rocky Horror Picture Show. The movie features an opening set by The Kendricks, with street food offerings such as Diva'Z Crepes, Drunken Cake Pops, Funtime Kettle Corn and more in the Market.

Events: Grand Performances
Another great event series to check out during Restaurant Week is Grand Performances. ow in its 29th year, Grand Performances presents free performing arts that reflect the best of global culture and inspire community among the diverse peoples of Los Angeles. During Restaurant Week, Friday and Saturday performances include The Last Jimmy: A Hip-Hop Musical, Ondatrópica featuring Quantic and Frente Cumbiero, Mexico 68 and 65-92: The Rhythm Changes But the Struggle Remains.

Hotels: Ace Hotel Downtown L.A.
Extend your Restaurant Week experience in Downtown L.A. by staying at a world-class hotel like the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles.
