The Guide to the Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens
07/01/2016
Leslee Komaiko
The Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens spans 113 acres. There's lots of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must. You can rent single and double strollers near the entrance - the cost is $10 for the single for the day and $14 for the double. The zoo also allows visitors to bring in wagons and other adult controlled ride-on toys if you want to push your kid around in their beloved plastic fire truck. Another option is the Safari Shuttle, which stops at six different spots along the perimeter of the zoo. There is an additional charge to use the shuttle. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for kids 2-12. But you can ride it as often as you like.
Instead of trying to do the entire zoo in a single visit, choose a few animals you really want to see and take your time. The playful chimpanzees are always a crowd pleaser - “Chimpanzees of the Mahale Mountains” has been hailed by renowned primatologist Jane Goodall as one of the finest chimpanzee habitats in the country.

Go On Location: "Independence Day" Filming Locations in Los Angeles

“Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!” The immortal words, spoken by President Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pullman) before the climactic fight sequence at the end of Independence Day, rally his ragtag group of troops to save the world from alien invaders. In July, we not only celebrate our real life Independence Day, but also the film’s anniversary - the blockbuster movie hit the big screen on July 3, 1996, breaking several box office records in the process. Though it employed heavy special effects and elaborate sets, many of the locations that were featured are real. Shot across the U.S. in cities such as New York, New York and Wendover, Utah, several L.A. spots also made an appearance. Read on for eight Los Angeles locations from Independence Day.
The Guide to Biking in Griffith Park

But it is on a bicycle that the entire park really opens up for exploration. By bike you can see and do more in Griffith Park than by car or foot. Most of the routes described are on roads with bike lanes or are closed to traffic, but there are many other roads that could potentially be explored. In my opinion, this makes the park one of the best places to cycle in Los Angeles.
